307th Airmen teach students about the great outdoors

Kevin Cross, of the Sulphur River Wildlife Association (SRWA), addresses students from Fouke Middle School at the beginning of a three-day field study at the group’s headquarters in Fouke, Ark., April 24, 2013. The SRWA, which consists of members from the 307th Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., is a group that teaches local youth wildlife conservation and preservation. This particular annual event has been held for more than a decade and has touched the lives of hundreds of local children. During the field study, instructors from the SRWA and teachers from Fouke Middle School integrated lessons in wildlife conservation and preservation into the school’s regular curriculum. Students take part in several stations, including wildlife identification, plant identification, archery and wildlife habitat creation. Instructors for the event included Maj.
