Naval Sink Mines
A Guided Bomb Unit 31V1 fixed with a MXU 735C nose piece awaits testing at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, Jan.16, 2020. The 735C is designed for naval mines dropped from a B-52 Stratofortress. The nose piece is designed to allow water to move through six small holes, resulting in more accurate placement when the mine hits the water. Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 307th Bomb Wing and active-duty Airmen from the 49th Test and Evaluation Squadron worked together to ready the munitions. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt.
