The 489th Bomb Group Reactivates after 70 years

U.S. Air Force Reserve Col Denis Heinz (right), assumes command of the 489th Bomb Group during a ceremony on Oct. 17, 2015, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. The 489th was reactivated exactly 70 years after it was inactivated on Oct. 17, 1945. It will operate out of Dyess Air Force Base near Abilene, Texas flying the B-1 bomber as an associate unit of the 7th Bomb Wing.
