Inspections thwart catastrophic events

U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Jamie Roberie, a nondestructive inspection journeyman assigned to the 307th Maintenance Squadron, burns an oil sample from a B-52H jet engine in order to inspect it for wear at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Aug. 18, 2014. This sample is energized, which causes wear metals to release signature wave lengths of light, which can be identified and measured. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Jeff Walston/Released)
