Patriotism meets Commercialism

Master Sgt. Jeff Walston, a public affairs technician assigned to the 307th Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base La., presents a tattered U.S. flag to Bill Walston, 1st Vice Commander, American Legion Post 418, at the American Legion post in Troup, Texas, July 4, 2013. Sergeant Walston received the flag from one of the managers of the Silver Star Restaurant in Bossier City, La., after he noticed the flag was damaged. The American Legion post in Troup accepts flags to be retired from individuals and organizations, and once or twice a year retires them with the assistance of a local Boy Scout Troop.
