Raptor rescue at Barksdale
U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Biologist Corey Sims holds an injured Red-tailed Hawk during a Raptor rescue behind the 307th Bomb Wing headquarters building on Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Sept. 9, 2103. When the injured hawk was found, Sims was called to help. A local falconer, Kim Porras, who is experienced with Raptor rescues, assessed the birds over all condition as "very healthy" other than a wing injury. The hawk was secured and transported for medical attention. If the injury to her wing can heal, plans are to return the bird to the wild. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Jeff Walston/Released)
