307th Bomb Wing heritage reunion
An assortment of military citations adorn the uniform worn by retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Charles Screws during the 307th Bomb Wing Combined Bomber/Tanker Reunion dinner, April 26, 2014, Bossier City, La. One of the many medals awarded to Screws is the Purple Heart, which was awarded to him during World War II as a P-47 Thunderbolt pilot who was shot down by enemy ground fire, but with the help of the French Underground, was able to evade the German Army and escape into Spain.
