Family Ties
Master Sgt. Rickie J. Adey Sr., senior air reserve technician, 917th Security Forces Squadron at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., and US Army Sergeant John Adey, a combat medic with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell, Ky, hold John’s children, Libby, 4 and Adam, 3 during a family visit at Barksdale. John, who is Master Sgt. Adey’s oldest twin son recently returned from his second tour overseas at Kabul, Afghanistan, where he cared for US and coalition forces. His first tour was in Ramadi, Iraq. John is now actively pursuing his degree through the University of Kentucky in hopes of becoming an Army officer. MSgt Adey’s daughter Tanya, is going for her nursing degree through University of South Dakota. The youngest son, Rickie Jr. is a detective with Prince Georges County Police Department, Maryland. Master Sgt. Adey is also pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in Social and Criminal Justice through Ashford University. “Education is essential now for any military member to advance so I am additionally proud that John has started his school,” said MSgt Adey. “My sons and daughter are heroes. Everyone has a hero…I have three. They have done more than I ever have.”
