Pitsenbarger Award
Staff Sgt. Danielle Dial, 917 Maintenance Squadron, journeyman aircraft mechanic, is the 917th Wing’s Pitsenbarger Award recipient. The award was presented by Chief Master Sgt. (Ret) Jack Skaggs, President of Louisiana Chapter 159 of the Air Force Association during ceremonies May 28, 2009. The AFA, through its education subsidiary, the Aerospace Education Foundation, a wards the grant in memory of Airman 1st Class William H. Pitsenbarger, the Air Force’s second Medal of Honor recipient since becoming a separate service in 1947. A1C Pitsenbarger was a pararescue medic who participated in more than 300 rescue missions during the Vietnam War. Sergeant Dial also received his Associate Degree in Applied Science Aviation Maintenance Technology during the same ceremony. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Ryan Ivacic)
