JROTC cadets attend leadership school
More than 300 high school students marched into Hoban Hall at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., June 18, 2009, during a “Summer Leadership School” for Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. Barksdale AFB personnel broke out all manners of equipment for demonstrations and briefings for the cadets on the capabilities of the U.S. Air Force and Barksdale personnel. The eight-day school is designed to encourage the cadet’s leadership skills. Each cadet is chosen by unit officials after they pass certain criteria. Cadets must also maintain a “C” average in school. Participants came from high school units in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Most were Air Force JROTC units, but there was also one Marine JROTC unit from Alexandria Senior High School in attendance. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Jeff Walston)
