93rd Bomb Squadron welcomes new commander

Lt. Col. Joseph Jones, commander, 93rd Bomb Squadron, comments on the squadron’s far reaching history during a change of command ceremony held Sunday, August 2, 2009, at the 93rd Bomb Squadron, at Barksdale Air Force Base, La. Colonel Jones took the reins from Colonel Select Keith Schultz, who is leaving the 93rd BS to take a position with the Pacific Air Forces at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. Colonel Jones, who is also an Internal Medicine Physician, at Tri State Medical Clinic in Shreveport, La., becomes the 9th commander of the 93rd BS at Barksdale. He will be the first who is also a doctor. The 93rd BS recently was given primary responsibility for the Air Force’s B-52 formal training mission after receiving 11 additional B-52s, approximately 320 maintainers and 40 operations personnel from the 2nd Bomb Wing. This move placed the 93rd in a partnership with the Regular Air Force under the total force initiative. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Jeff Walston)
