Montrose holds piece of bomb
BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan - Tech. Sgt. Daniel Montrose, 755 Explosive Ordnance Disposal team leader, holds up a five-pound piece of steel bomb casing recovered from the Soviet 500-pound bomb rendered safe April 8 in Charikar. Without protecive measures in place, an explosion caused by an accidental detonation would have launched this piece and larger ones at the speed of a bullet through houses, walls and people. Sergeant Montrose is a member of the 917 EOD, 917th Wing, Barksdale AFB, La. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Thomas J. Doscher)
