917th Airman builds warriors from ground up
James Whitaker, activities therapy coordinator, East Texas Medical Center/Behavioral Health Center observes cadets from the TYLER JOINT FORCE Battalion of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets Corps take part in an exercise called “Spider Web” at the Behavioral Health Center in Tyler, Texas, August 15, 2009. The exercise is used to enhance team work and trust between the cadets. The exercise also teaches participants planning techniques and how to be aware of their surroundings. The cadets spent the entire summer day completing exercises which will enable them to work closer with and trust their fellow cadets. This experience will also benefit those cadets who decide to join the U.S. Military in the future. One of the objectives of the NSCC is to develop as sense of pride in our nation, positive qualities of patriotism, courage, self-reliance, confidence, pride in workmanship and seamanship skill, and other attributes which will contribute to development of strong moral character and good citizenship traits.
