Colonel Edmund Walker, commander, 917th Wing, recognizes Technical Sgt. Ben Bogues, and eleven of his fellow Airmen from the 917th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron with a Ground Safety Well Done Award Plaque, a commander’s coin and a certificate during commander’s call in Hoban Hall at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., September 13, 2009. The Airmen’s combined efforts saved valuable Air Force assets when they disregarded their own safety to ensure the safe egress of a 93rd Bomb Squadron crew from a burning B-52 Statofortress and fought a fire in the wheel well until the base fire department arrived on scene to finish off the blaze.
