917th Wing's Airman in the Spotlight
Senior Airman Raymond Gipson, jet engine mechanic from the 917th Maintenance Squadron on Barksdale Air Force Base, La., performs routine maintenance on an engine during his unit training assembly weekend (UTA). Airman Gipson, who is originally from Monroe, La., has been in the Air Force for six years and enjoys bowling with friends. Airman Gipson says he wanted to be the first person in his family to join the military, and is glad he did because of the amazing benefits in the Air Force Reserve. Airman Gipson recognizes Chief Master Sgt. Combs as the person who has most influenced him in his military career, because he is an excellent role model. Airman Gipson also says that his favorite thing about his job is the people he works with. (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Crystal Jordan)
