Changes to the 917th Command Building: first of many for Barksdale
Construction in the 917th Wing Headquarters building at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., moves along as scheduled and is expected to be completed January 7, 2010. A new testing facility is the first of many projects planned on Barksdale in support of the Total Force Integration process and expanded operation for the base. The testing facility being constructed will offer 24 testing sites and will be available for use by standard evaluation in the 917th WG and both the 93rd Bomb Squadron and 47th Fighter Squadron here. The facility will also expand capabilities for general testing in the 917th WG by doubling the number of personnel who can be tested at one time. The construction taking place at the 917th WG is one of many projects planned for Barksdale. The entire bill for the work to be done on the installation is more than 11 million dollars.
