Changes to the 917th Command Building: first of many for Barksdale
Civilian contractors are hard at work remodeling a new testing facility in the 917th Wing Headquarters building at Barksdale Air Force Base, La. The project is the first of many planned on Barksdale to accommodate the growing mission of the installation and the Total Force Integration process. The facility will increase the number of personnel in the wing who will be able to test at one time, taking that number from 12 to 24. The facility will also be used for standard evaluation testing by both the 93rd Bomb Squadron and 47th Fighter Squadron on Barksdale, which train both active duty and reserve pilots. The construction taking place in the 917th WG is one of many projects planned for Barksdale. The entire bill for the work to be done on the installation is more than 11 million dollars.
