Feeding the beast
Tech. Sgt. Jayson Kennedy, a fuels technician for the 917th Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., removes chocks from the tires of his R-12 hydrant refueling vehicle in order to begin his journey to a B-52 Stratofortress on the flight line waiting for refueling. Sergeant Kennedy plays an important role in the mission of the United States Air Force. Without his career field, the massive aircraft, affectionately known as the BUFF, would never take flight. Without the aircraft’s “go juice”, more than 47,000 gallons of it, the strategic bomber couldn’t accomplish its missions in operations at home and abroad.
