Maintenance: the backbone of the Air Force

Tech. Sgt. William Martin, a munitions systems mechanic with the 917th Maintenance Squadron, delivers BDU 33 practice bombs to an A -10 Thunderbolt II jet aircraft for loading at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., April 1, 2010. The practice bomb will disperse a cloud of smoke on impact making it easier to gage the accuracy of the pilot. More than 100 Airmen from the 917th Wing, Barksdale Air Force Base, La., participated in Patriot Everglades, which supported the training of Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) and Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) operations.
