Lt. Col. Morgan says farewell
Senior Master Sgt. Dave Roberts, chief of education and training for the 917th Wing, presents a photo to Lt. Col. Charlie Morgan, as his wife Jeanne looks during his farewell luncheon at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Aug. 27, 2010. Colonel Morgan, process manager for the 917th Wing, is retiring this month after 34 years of both military and civilian service to his country. One of the highlights of Col. Morgan’s military career was from 1984-86 during his time flying the advanced long range, Mach 3+, strategic reconnaissance aircraft, SR-71 “Blackbird” or “Habu” as it is affectionately known by its crews. A colorful figure at the 917th Wing for the past 23 years, Col. Morgan plans to spend more time enjoying his three children’s college years with his wife Jeanne during his retirement years.
