917 CES Airmen train to fight

Airmen from the 917th Civil Engineer Squadron prepare themselves to fire the M4, 5.56mm, Carbine at the firing range on Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Nov 5, 2010. This particular version of the M4 has a telescoping stock, which allows more effective use of the weapon in building structures during close-quarter combat operations. The 917 CES Airmen are completing the annual weapons training to keep current in their war fighting skills. The training is necessary to keep the unit ready to deploy with little or no notice in defense of the United States and its interests. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Jeff Walston)
