917 CES trains for the unimaginable
Col. John J. Mooney III, commander, 917th Wing, knocks down the remaining flames in what was once a burning aircraft trainer at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Nov. 5, 2010. Colonel Mooney joined approximately 20 members of the 917th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department during wartime training, which included the extinguishing of a fire on a large frame aircraft trainer. Colonel Mooney decided to take up the challenge, in order to experience and get a feel for what Airmen in his command go through on a daily basis. For the professional firefighters, it is a part of their annual Air Force Certification process for Airport Rescue Firefighting. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Jeff Walston)
