Road trip through history
A statue of Lt. Gen. Hubert Reilly Harmon on the grounds of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., Nov. 19, 2010. General Harmon, who had a distinguished career in World War II, was instrumental in developing the plans for the establishment of the US Air Force Academy. He was one of the persons most influential in establishing it as a successful education institution, and its first superintendent. On April 1, 2004, in celebration of the U.S. Air Force Academy's 50th Anniversary, General Harmon was named "The Father of the U.S. Air Force Academy."
