Road trip through history

Several plateaus dot the horizon of the southeastern part of the Comanche National Grassland located near Springfield, Colo., Nov 21, 2010. Plateaus can be formed any number of processes, such as volcanic magma, extrusion of lava, glaciers and erosion by water. In North America, the largest plateau is the Colorado Plateau covering an area of about 130,000 square miles in Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. (Courtesy photo/Jeff Walston)
