A-10 Thunderbolt: Highlight at Wings Over the Red Fly-In

Lt. Col. Mark T. Olson, (left) chief of safety, 917th Fighter Group, taxis a Boeing Stearman PT-17 to a parking spot at the “Wings Over The Red Fly-In and Airport Open House” hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Associate, Chapter 343 at the Shreveport Downtown Airport in Shreveport, La., March 19, 2011. The aircraft was used in World War II as a trainer for pilots before they moved on to more advanced aircraft in their pilot training. Colonel Olson is an Air Force Reserve pilot assigned to the 917th FG at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., and flew the aircraft to the event for the Commemorative Air Force, so it could be displayed with more than 24 other aircraft for visitors to view at the event.
