Air Force highlights Texas Air Shows
Noel Rather, a former captain with the U.S. Air Force, prepares his L-29 Delphin before taking off to participate in the Cedar Creek Lake Air Show, “Thunder Over Cedar Creek Lake,” near Mabank, Texas, July 2, 2011. Rather launched his aircraft from Tyler Pounds Regional Airport in Tyler, Texas. The Areo L-29 Delphin is a military jet trainer aircraft that became the standard jet trainer for the air forces of the Warsaw Pact nations in the 1960s. It was Czechoslovakia’s first locally designed and built jet aircraft.
