Air Force highlights Texas Air Shows
Graig Hutain, fuels his “Val” aircraft before performing in the “Wings Over Tyler Air Show” at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport, July 3, 2011. Hutain was flying a replica Japanese aircraft for the Commemorative Air Force’s “Tora! Tora! Tora!” performance, which recreates the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. Designed as a living history lesson, “Tora, Tora, Tora” is intended as a memorial to all the soldiers on both sides who gave their lives for their countries. The Aichi D3A, Allied reporting name “Val” was a World War II carrier-borne dive bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy. It participated in almost all actions, including Pearl Harbor.
