2 BW commander tours STARBASE
Kathy Brandon, executive director, STARBASE Louisiana, Senior Airman Timothy Gibson, Col. Andrew Gebara, 2nd Bomb Wing, commander, and Teresa Johnson, a teacher’s assistant at STARBASE discuss the number of local children who benefit from the program each year during a tour of the Barksdale Air Force Base, La., facility Oct. 2, 2012. The program presents an exciting 25-hour hands-on minds-on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum to area 5th grade students and their teachers. STARBASE Louisiana creates an environment to actively engage students in STEM exploration to excite their interest, develop a solid concept base, and encourage them to pursue these areas in future studies. Gibson, who is a personnel reliability program journeyman assigned to the 2nd BW, was shadowing the wing commander as the “Barksdale Airman of the Month.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt.
