917 FG prepares for inactivation

Capt. Shane McLaughlin, a pilot assigned to the 47th Fighter Squadron, checks his A-10 Thunderbolt II prior to a flight at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., April 8, 2013. McLaughlin was one of the pilots assigned to fly the first three A-10s from Barksdale for the last time. The 47 FS, which is part of the 917th Fighter Group, is scheduled to be inactivated by the end of September 2013. The 917th FG aircraft and personnel are being reassigned to different bases and locations.
