Thousands attend Independence Day fireworks display on the Red River

Pyrotechnicians wait on the fireworks barge for their portion of the Independence Day celebration to begin on the Red River between Bossier City and Shreveport, La., July 4, 2013. The celebration at Riverview Park in downtown Shreveport and the celebration at the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City, La., featured many types of food, music and fireworks. The Barksdale Honor Guard from Barksdale Air Force Base, La., posted the colors for the event in Shreveport and Tech. Sgt. Timothy Pastore, who is an electronics integrated systems mechanic, assigned to the 307th Maintenance Squadron, sang the National Anthem before the festivities in Shreveport.
