Red-tail Hawks call Barksdale home
A Red-tailed Hawk rests on the creek bank in front of the 307th Bomb Wing headquarters building at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., April 17, 2014. The Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) is a bird of prey, one of three species colloquially known in the United States as the "chickenhawk," though it rarely preys on standard-sized chickens. The Red-tailed Hawk typically prefers open fields, but due to an abundant food source here, many of the raptors call Barksdale home. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Jeff Walston/Released)
