Lt. Col. Leo J. Kamphaus, Jr., currently the Chief Aircraft Maintenance Manager at 10th Air Force, Naval Air Station. Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth Texas, will assume command of the 307th Maintenance Group during an assumption of command ceremony scheduled for July 12, at 10:30 a.m., in Hoban Hall, Barksdale Air Force Base, La.

Kamphaus was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and graduated from Knoch High School in 1981. He attended Air Force Basic Training in July 1985. Kamphaus completed Officer Candidate School, McGhee Tyson Academy of Military Science in 1998 where he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He has been assigned to numerous maintenance officer positions throughout the United States.

"The command has really entrusted me with this amazing organization and outstanding group of Airmen," he said. "I am very happy to be returning to Barksdale after spending the last two years at Fort Worth." Prior to his tour at NAS JRB Forth Worth, Texas, Kamphaus was the 307th Maintenance Squadron commander.

"I was a part of the Total Force Initiative while previously at Barksdale. This base is considered the shiny penny of all the working Total Force Enterprise and I'm looking forward to continuing that successful integration with active duty," he said.  "I am here, not to execute the reserve or active duty mission, but the Air Force mission."

Kamphaus also brings almost ten years of enlisted maintenance experience in the armament system technology career field.
