BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- The Air Force plans to allow Airmen to have greater control over some personnel and pay processes planned for the next few years; but they will have to complete a few steps to get there first, according to officials at Air Force Reserve Command.
The Air Force Integrated Personnel and Pay System will expand the Military Personnel Data System in an effort to resolve some pay errors and improve human resource processes for military members.
AFIPPS will include two phases. The first phase will be a read-only self-service program that allows Airmen to view and verify their personnel and pay records.
“Initiating user accounts in Phase 1 will allow Airmen to review, validate, and begin the process of correcting any missing or inaccurate data before Phase 2 and full-capability in 2022”, said Lt. Col. Michelle Coumbs, 307th FSS Commander.
It is important for Airmen to claim their accounts prior to Phase 2 Full Capability to aide in a smooth transition.
Coumbs said, today MilPDS has approximately 50,000 users. That number is expected to increase to nearly 500,000 when AFIPPS is integrated. She said the system needs to be tested across MAJCOMS incrementally to ensure it can handle that workload.
Notices to claim AFIPPS accounts will be delivered to Airmen in waves via e-mail over the course of several months.
