BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- August started normally for the 307th Bomb Wing’s Reserve Citizen Airmen. They trained through three unit training assemblies and multiple annual tours. That pace changed suddenly Aug. 26 when Hurricane Laura, a Category 4 storm, threatened Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. Aircrews and maintainers quickly evacuated nine bombers assigned to the wing, seeking haven at military installations in Texas. They were back at Barksdale in two days and resumed normal training.
