10 AF/CC visits Wing Published Jan. 13, 2006 By Tech. Sgt. Sherri Savant 917th Wing Public Affairs Barksdale AFB, La. -- Maj. Gen. Rusty Poulin, 10th Air Force commander, visited the Wing during the November unit training assembly. While here, the general walked through units in the Wing, spoke to the troops at both officer and enlisted calls, and wrapped up his trip with a ride in the bomber on Monday following the UTA. Throughout his visit, the general stressed the fact that Reservists fill a much different role now than in the past, many spending their annual tour(s) fulfilling Air and Space Expeditionary Force commitments. “Every single one of you is at risk overseas,” the general said. “We never envisioned we would have to do this.” The general stressed over and over again how Wing members must be “trained, ready and relevant” in their mission, with his focus on the future of the A-10 and possible upgrades to “make it more relevant” in the fight. “Set your standards high and aim for the sun, because that’s real important in today’s Air Force,” he said.
