Air Force Services is currently accepting applications for their six-day Air Force Teen Aviation Camp, which is scheduled to kick off at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., June 5.

Along with having an interest in aviation, leadership and the AFA, the applicants planning to take part in this event should be high school students entering either their sophomore or junior year in the fall of 2010.

Also, they must be a dependant of an active duty Air Force member, or a reserve or guard member who has been activated in the last 12 months. Dependants of Air Force civilian employees and retired Air Force members are also welcomed to apply.

The teens must not only demonstrate social maturity and leadership qualities. They must also demonstrate the application of these qualities through school and community involvement.

The camp provides the selected youth the opportunity to experience life as an Air Force Academy cadet, including a stay in the school dormitories, rope courses and a tour of the academy itself. The teens would also participate in both flight simulation activities and a Cessna flight.

Attendees would arrive in Colorado Springs June 5 and depart from the area June 10.

Those in the 917th Wing, Barksdale Air Force Base, La., wanting their dependant to take part in this event will need to electronically contact Ms. Stacey Young or Ms. Brandi Mullins, points of contact at Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force, Ga., before the application deadline on March 10 at stacey.young@us.af.mil or brandi.mullins.ctr@us.af.mil.

Teens who participated in the Air Force Teen Aviation Camp 2009 are not eligible to apply this year.
