Global Strike Challenge wraps up
Members of the 917th Security Forces Squadron from Barksdale Air Force Base, La., pose for a picture after completing their portion of the Firing and Tactics Event of the first-ever Global Strike Challenge, at Camp Minden in Louisiana, Nov. 13, 2010. Airman First Class Jafus Sheridan, Technical Sgt. Chad Turner, Airman First Class Trevor Forman, Airman First Class Colby Newborn, Technical Sgt. Daniel Zamora, team leader, Technical Sgt. Melvin Cargill and Staff Sgt. David Mudd, who was the alternate, made up the tactics team from 917th SFS. A six-man team from the 917th SFS competed in the event against other teams from numerous bases involved in the competition. The Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System or MILES, which uses lasers and blank cartridges to simulate actual battle, was used for the event to identify the Airmen who were killed. This system is used by the U.S. military and other armed forces around the world for training purposes. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Jeff Walston)
