School is out for Formal Training Unit Class 12-01

Barksdale Air Force Base, La. --  The 307th Bomb Wing's B-52 Formal Training Unit graduated 28 officers during a ceremony held on July 10, 2012. The FTU is comprised of the 93rd and 11th Bomb Squadrons, and provides all initial flight training for Active Duty and Air Force Reserve aircrews in the B-52H Stratofortress.

An Outstanding Academic Performer award is given to the students who demonstrate the highest levels of performance during the academic phase of training.

The Aircraft Commander Outstanding Academic Performer was Capt. Seth Shipley, who achieved an overall academic average of 98.71 percent.

The Copilot Outstanding Academic Performer was Capt. Creighton Moorman, who achieved an overall academic average of 99 percent.

The Dual Seat Navigator Outstanding Academic Performer was 1st Lt. Josh Dawkins, who achieved an overall academic average of 99.75 percent.

The Electronic Warfare Officer Outstanding Academic Performer was 1st Lt. Louis Bennett, who achieved an overall academic average of 99 percent.

The Distinguished Graduate Award is a culmination of academic tests, flight evaluations, officer ship, attitude and professional bearing. The students selected for the award have demonstrated at least a 90 percent average in all areas of training and performance that was consistently and clearly above their peers.

The Copilot Distinguished Graduate was Capt. Creighton Moorman.

The Dual Seat Navigator Distinguished Graduate was 1st Lt. Josh Dawkins.

The Electronic Warfare Officer Distinguished Graduate was 1st Lt. Nicholas Biggert.

The Lindell Mabus Leadership Award, named after the first commander of the 93rd Bomb Squadron when it was reactivated in 1993, is given to the student whose exceptional leadership was critical to the class's graduation.

The class as a whole cast their votes and 1st Lt. Mark Brodie was selected to receive the award.
