307 BW B-52 remembers American Hero
A B-52 Stratofortress from the 93rd Bomb Squadron, 307th Bomb Wing Barksdale Air Force Base, La., sports the name of Astronaut Neil Armstrong and a tribute to space travel, at the Wings Over Houston Air Show at the Ellington Airport in Houston, Texas, October 27-28, 2012. The jet was painted with the name to remember American Astronaut Neil Alden Armstrong, who was the first person to walk on the Moon. Armstrong, who was also an aerospace engineer, naval aviator, test pilot, was born Aug. 5, 1930, and passed away Aug. 25, 2012. He was an officer in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. Armstrong was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Richard Nixon, the Congressional Space Medal of Honor by President Jimmy Carter in 1978, and the Congressional Gold Medal with his former crewmates in 2009.
