Col. Roy Peterson assumes command of the 307th Mission Support Group

U.S. Air Force Col. Roy Peterson assumed command of the 307th Mission Support Group during a Change of Command ceremony held on June 1, 2013. As commander, he answers directly to the 307th Bomb Wing commander for all 307th MSG units, to include the 307th Civil Engineering Squadron, 307th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 307th Security Forces Squadron and they 307th Force Support Squadron.

Col. Peterson is the former commander of the 908th Mission Support Group, 908th Airlift Wing, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. He was in charge of more than 550 personnel whose mission was to provide peacetime and wartime mission readiness support of Air Force Reserve Command and Air Mobility Command.
 
Col. Peterson entered the military in 1978 through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp program, graduating from the Mississippi Valley State University with a bachelor degree in Electronic Engineering. He has served as commander at unit, group and wing levels, including a joint tour at CENTCOM, where he served as AF Element Commander and Deputy Headquarters Commandant. Additionally, he performed a combat tour at Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan, as deputy Expeditionary Mission Support Group commander.
