In the event of inclement weather…
Tech. Sgt. Jeff Walston, the acting chief of public affairs for the 917th Wing on Barksdale Air Force Base, La., places a first-aid kit into his survival bag on Jan. 27, 2010. Sergeant Walston, an avid traveler, regularly carries a survival kit in his vehicle. However, after experiencing a series of inclement weather events on Barksdale and witnessing natural disasters across the globe, he added to his simple set of items in his kit and now keeps it with him at all times. Items such as snacks, bottles of water and a first-aid kit will ensure he has what he needs while relief efforts are underway. Specific to him, is a knife, gloves and appropriate seasonal clothing. Survival kits will be different for each person depending on the basics needs and situation of that person. The all inclusive fact is, like Sergeant Walston, everyone must be prepared.
