Colonel David Martinez, 307th Bomb Wing Commander

Col. David Martinez is the Commander of the 307th Bomb Wing, Barksdale Air Force Base, La. The 307th is Air Force Reserve Command’s sole bomb wing, operating both the B-52H Stratofortress and B-1B Lancer. Additionally, through Classic and Active Associations, the 307th BW provides combat-ready B-52H aircrew, maintenance personnel and combat support to execute nuclear and conventional global operational taskings.  He is responsible for more than 2,000 Reserve Citizen-Airmen, civilian personnel and associated resources.

Col. Martinez earned his commission in 1999 through the U.S. Air Force Academy. He completed pilot training in June 2002, and since then has held a variety of positions as a weapons officer, instructor/evaluator pilot, flight commander, operations officer, and group commander. Prior to his current position the Colonel was the deputy commander, 307th Bomb Wing, Barksdale Air Force Base, La.

 

Colonel Martinez is a command pilot with more than 3,700 flying hours, including 2,600 combat and combat support hours in the B-52 Stratofortress, B-1 Lancer, and MQ-1 Predator, and MQ-9 Reaper. He has also deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
