Colonel David Anderson, 307th Bomb Wing Commander

Col. David R. Anderson is the commander of the 307th Bomb Wing, Barksdale Air Force Base, La. The 307th is Air Force Reserve Command’s sole bomb wing, operating both the B-52H Stratofortress and B-1B Lancer. Additionally, through Classic and Active Associations, the 307th BW provides combat-ready B-52H aircrew, maintenance personnel and combat support to execute nuclear and conventional global operational taskings.  He is responsible for more than 2,000 Reserve Citizen-Airmen, civilian personnel and associated resources. Prior to his current position, Col. Anderson served as the commander of the 307th Operations Group, 307th BW.

Col. Anderson began his career in 1992 as an enlisted F-16 Avionics Technician for the Colorado Air National Guard. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 1996 and his commission through ROTC at the University of Colorado. He served on active duty for 11 years before joining the Air Force Reserve unit program in 2008 as a full-time Air Reserve Technician. He is an avid civilian aviator and command pilot with more than 3,700 hours in military fixed and rotary wing aircraft, including 227 combat sorties flown in support of Operations NOBLE EAGLE, IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.
