A military training instructor from the 433rd Training Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, visited the 307th Bomb Wing Feb. 11, 2017, looking for the best of the best to help train the future of the U.S. Air Force. Master Sgt. Carlos Recoder, 433rd TRS MTI, came to Barksdale Air Force Base, La., to recruit Air Force Reserve members as MTIs, as well as to speak with trainees of the 307th Developmental Training Flight about the best ways to prepare for basic military training.
During the MTI recruiting session, Recoder told the potential applicants about the 433rd TRS, its mission and being an instructor.
“For those interested in becoming MTIs in the Air Force, there are many opportunities available,” said Recoder. “We have more than 30 traditional reservist positions open, so now is a great time to explore this rewarding career field.”
In order to qualify, applicants must be a staff sergeant or technical sergeant with one year time-in-grade, and be at least four years from high year tenure. They also must have a current composite score of 80 or better on the physical training test with no failures in the past 12 month. With the requirements come many benefits, including monthly special duty pay and travel pay for unit training assemblies.
“The greatest benefit is watching young trainees grow week by week, gaining confidence and finally becoming full-fledged Airmen," said Recoder. “I can’t tell you how gratifying it is to have parents come up to you at graduation and express how thankful they are for what you did for their son or daughter.”
