Tech. Sgt. Clint Melancon, 307th Bomb Wing command post specialist, added to a long list of accolades this year, winning the Air Force Reserve Command Noncommissioned Officer of the Year award for 2020.

He had already won individual honors as 307th Bomb Wing and 10th Air Force NCO of the Year and played a role in the Barksdale Air Force Base command post earning back-to-back titles as Air Force command post of the year.

“I could never have accomplished this without the support and motivation of my family, friends, supervisors, and peers who never gave up on me and who continued to push me forward when I wanted to turn back,” said Melancon.

The Reserve Citizen Airman has become a go-to resource for the Air Force Global Aircrew Strategic Network Terminal, a vital communication link to nuclear bomber, missile, and support aircraft crews in contested and difficult environments.

“Tech.Sgt. Melancon is the type of person that takes any project given to him and makes it his own in a short amount of time; quickly becoming the subject matter expert for it,” said Senior Master Sgt. Melissa Kitchens, 307th Bomb Wing command post superintendent.

Melancon also played a key role in evacuating multiple B-52’s from Barksdale when the base found itself in the crosshairs of Hurricane Laura earlier this year.

“He never hesitates to give the time and dedication necessary to go above and beyond for any task or situation that comes up in the command post,” said Lt. Col. Keith Gibbs, 307th BW command post chief.

Melancon will represent AFRC at the Air Force level later this year.
