B-52s fly historic un-MANned mission
U.S. Air Force Col. Kristin Goodwin, the 2nd Bomb Wing commander, and Maj. Heather Decker, assigned to the 93rd Bomb Squadron, ready their B-52 for engine start prior to a mission on Mar. 22, 2013, Barksdale Air Force Base, La. In recognition of Women’s History Month, the mission consisted of two B-52H Stratofortress bombers flown by two all-female aircrews made up from members of the Air Force Reserve Command’s 93rd and 343rd Bomb Squadrons and the 2nd Bomb Wing’s 11th, 20th and 96th Bomb Squadrons.
